Blue Badge guides present a wreath to the Unknown Warrior
BBTG Stan Medland with the Blue Badge wreath at Platform 8

On 10th November 1920 a special train arrived at platform 8 at Victoria Station. Aboard was the body of the Unknown Warrior.  The following morning the coffin was borne on a Royal Horse Artillery gun carriage through immense silent crowds to the cenotaph, which was unveiled for the occasion, and finally on to the Abbey to its final resting place. This year the journey was replicated, in reverse, as part of  a walking tour for Blue Badge tourist guides by BBTG Stan Medland. A service of commemoration has been held at Platform 8 every 10th of November by the Western Front Association, and this year’s Centenary service was attended by the walking tour, with Stan Medland laying a wreath on behalf of Britain’s Blue Badge tourist guides. DSCN7670
